Khaled began with self-confidence, introducing his topic which was about his trip to Paris in 2008. He was clearly loud and made some eye contact with the audients although he had some grammar mistakes at the beginning. He stood beside the screen presenting with a smile; he seemed well prepared and didn’t use notes or read from the screen. He gave general information about museums and historic imagery and artists work which were at the museum. He also talked about the places he visited and one of the things which made his presentation look great was he posted photos which were taken by him personally .At the end he answered all questions quickly and competently; overall it had general information and was interesting but had some spelling and grammar mistakes.

Meeting Reflection

Meeting Reflection

On Sunday 14th October, 2012, at ADMC room W104 at 11:20; a meeting was called by Abdulla Ali Al Hosani (chairman); present at this meeting was Hassan (secretary), Abdul Kareem and Hamdan (participants).

I started the meeting in an appropriate manner by, first of all, greeting the participants in the group and saying good morning everyone. Then I proceeded to thank them for attending and being on time. Then I went on to introduce the members in the group underlining their respective roles. Finally, I stated the subject of the meeting: Video games and one side effect on child, teenagers and adults and how to prevent it from happening. The problems which were discussed first were behavior: disorder symptoms. In which Hassan mentioned that the parents should take the teenagers and kids to see a psychiatrist to talk with their children and show them the bad effect that will be exposed to them in the future but Mr. Hedley had a comment that seeing a psychiatrist is a good idea but our society thinks that anyone who goes and sees a psychiatrist is crazy and because of this it’s difficult for the children to accept this idea. The second point were bad effects on study performance. Hamdan said that the parents should keep in touch with the teachers to know how their kids are doing with study and if they have bad marks they should reduce their kids playing time from them and encourage them to study hard and if their study performance gets better they should reward them by video games but set for them a limit of time of not more than an hour. Other side effects were social problems; Abdullkareem said that the parents should take their kids for a   trip at the weekends to communicate with people or another solution will be to join their kids in clubs which arrange trips and other activities in which they will meet people of their age which will make them enjoy talking to them.
The last point was the effect of playing violent games on teenagers. Abdullah admonished the parents and said they should advise their teenage children that this is just a game and they shouldn’t practice it in real life or on others .At the end of the meeting Abdulla ended the meeting and thanked his colleagues for their good solutions and for discussing and wished them a great day. For a first- time experience I had a lot of benefits as to how to arrange a meeting and how to put forward the main points. Discussing problems and finding a solution also gave me self-confidence to start any type of meeting.

Meeting Report

Meeting Report

Problem: Video games effect on teenagers and kids

Date: Sunday 14th October, 2012

Venue: W104

Time: 11:20 to 11:45

Chairman: Abdullah Ali

Secretary: Hasan Mubarak

Participant: Hamdan Mohamed, Abdullkareem

Agenda:

Behavior: disorder symptoms

Bad effect on study performance

Social problems

The effect of playing violent games on children

Abdullah (chairman) opened the meeting to find with his group some solutions that will benefit the teenagers and kids.

1)      Behavior: disorder symptoms

Hasan mentioned that the parents should take the teenagers and kids to see a psychiatrist to talk with their children and show them the bad effect that will be exposed to them in the future.

2)      Bad effect on study performance

Hamdan said that the parents should keep in touch with the teachers to know how their kids are doing with study and if they have bad marks they take the games from them and encourage them to study hard and if they get good marks they return the games but put for them a long time to study instead of playing video games.

3)      Social problems

Abdullkareem said that the parents should do a trip at the weekends for their children and take them to the park or to visit their grandmother, grandfather or arrange a trip with the whole family and go to the beach; that will keep the children in touch with the family instead of being alone and playing video games.

4)      The effect of playing violent games on teenagers

Abdullah admonished the parents and said they should look after the teenagers when they play the violent games and show them the bad effects of playing these games and advise them that this is just a game and don't practise it on others.

Recommendations:

1)       Seeing a psychiatrist is a good idea but our society thinks that anyone who goes and sees a psychiatrist is crazy and because of this it’s difficult for the children to accept this idea.

2)         Keeping the parents in touch with the teachers will help the parents very much with their children to know the academic achievement and will encourage the children to study more to get what they need.

3)      Out on a trip will benefit the children and parents and the communication between them thus will reduce the time of children sitting alone and spending their time on playing video games.

4)      Violent games are harmful and parents should not allow their children to play them   .
